Korea University and KSEAUK sign an MoU to strengthen global industry-academia collaboration
Both organizations plan to engage in various collaborative efforts, including international joint research and entrepreneurship exchanges.

On Thursday, August 1, Korea University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korean Scientists and Engineers Association in the UK (KSEAUK) (President Jin Sung-Ho) at the University of Warwick. This agreement aims to enhance the efficiency of industry-academia collaboration and to foster various business partnerships.

Through this MOU, the two organizations will collaborate on several initiatives, including: joint research projects focused on industry-academia collaboration and unearthing of talented new researchers; information exchange related to entrepreneurship and technology transfer in order to further industry-academia partnerships; the sharing of insights among experts in industry-academia collaborations across the UK and Ireland; and joint efforts to build a robust industry-academia collaboration ecosystem.

Executive Vice President Yoo Hyuk of Korea University stated, “This MoU will further solidify the cooperative relationship between Korea University and KSEAUK, serving as a stepping stone for Korea University to open a new chapter in global industry-academia collaboration, not only in the UK but also in other European countries. I hope that both organizations can work together to achieve innovative research results and technological advancements.”

KSEAUK President Jin Sung-Ho expressed his delight at the successful hosting of EKC 2024, stating, “EKC is the only event that facilitates interaction among Korean scientists and engineers in Europe.” He added, “This MoU with Korea University will provide a foundation for expanding Korea-Europe cooperation, thereby enhancing the standing of Korean science and technology in Europe."

The MOU was signed during the 2024 Europe-Korea Conference on Science and Technology (EKC), co-hosted by KSEAUK and The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies. Now in its 16th year, EKC serves as a platform for engineers and scientists from Korea and Europe to present their recent research achievements, exchange knowledge and ideas, and engage in networking.
